Login page for users
Users can log in to NxFilter through the login page.

User credentials
You can create a user under 'User > User', and then set a password for the user on the user's edit page. If you import users from Active Directory, they can use their AD credentials to log in to NxFilter.

Captive portal by NxFilter
When an unauthenticated user tries to access a website, they are redirected to the NxFilter login page. In the past, this feature allowed you to build a captive portal using NxFilter. However, since Google began enforcing the use of HTTPS, this method no longer works well. Most browsers do not allow redirection on HTTPS connections to prevent man-in-the-middle attacks, so users may see an SSL warning page instead of the NxFilter login page.

We recommend implementing a Default User by associating the entire IP range of your network with a single user and using one of our single sign-on (SSO) agents. This makes the authentication process transparent to users and eliminates issues with SSL warning pages. If you still prefer to use the login page, you can set your browser's start page to the NxFilter login page. Before users log in, they will appear as the default user; after logging in, they will appear under their own usernames.

To disable Login Redirection, go to 'System > Setup'.

Login, Logout, Welcome, Password
You can access user login related pages or perform actions with the following URLs.

1. Login page: http://your-nxfilter-ip/login

2. Logout: http://your-nxfilter-ip/logout

3. Welcome page: http://your-nxfilter-ip/welcome

4. Password change form: http://your-nxfilter-ip/password.

This welcome page is also useful for checking your current identity in NxFilter's login session map.

Customizing login page
To customize the design of the login, welcome, and password change pages, go to 'System > Block Page'.

Login domain and logout domain
In the past, before the use of HTTPS was enforced, we used Login Domain and Logout Domain to access the NxFilter login page and perform logout actions. You can set these domains on 'System > Setup' menu of NxFilter GUI.

You can log out of the NxFilter user session by sending a DNS query to the logout domain.
